Chronic Ink is the only tattoo shop in the Toronto area that specializes in “authentic” Asian tattoos – original, custom Chinese and Japanese tattoo designs that use your body as a canvas to create “living art”.
While a few other shops have indeed done the occasional Japanese Koi fish tattoo tiger tattoo, a phoenix tattoo, or a Chinese dragon tattoo, they don’t have Asian-born and Asian-trained tattoo artists on staff, like we do. That means that the Asian style of tattoo isn't part of their culture, lifestyle and passion the way it is for us. That’s why, only our tattoos are “Authentic Asian”.
What makes the Asian style of tattoo different from the traditional North American Ed Hardy style, is that an “authentic” Chinese and Japanese design is created in such a way that the artist can add to it over time to create a progressively larger work of seamless body art.
Authentic Chinese and Japanese tattoos are often about nature. They capture the natural flow of all things with life, and in life. Unlike the traditional North American style, Asian tattoos are not intended to be static representations of an image on your skin. Instead, great care is taken by the artist in design and placement to ensure that the movement of your body brings the tattoo to life.
