Toronto Tattoo Shop sheds new light on the art of ink

Until now, tattoos were seen like a scarlet letter. They represented a wild side, even a rough side. And the biggest advocators of an ink-free body tended to be parents and employers. This has strongly influenced the way we feel about tattoos today.

It might be ironic to learn that when tattoos were
introduced to Western culture, they were reserved for the elite and were
thought to be symbols of the bearer’s worldliness. As popularity grew and tattoos became more
accessible for everyone of all classes, the prestige dimmed and the perception
became more shady.

This is a belief that seemed to have stuck for many decades
until the media stepped in and again we saw another shift in perception. Celebs
like Angelina Jolie, Meghan Fox and Vin Diesel starting showing their ink and it
became more and more trendy and acceptable. However there still seems to remain
a barrier for those who are considering getting a tattoo of their own. While Tinsel Town may have openly embraced
the art of ink, the average consumer who works 9-5 and still values their
parents acceptance are having a hard time making the decision. Should they
actually choose to go ahead and get a tattoo, they are still only half-heartedly committing by
requesting a smaller tattoo and usually in a place that’s easy to hide from
both family and employers. Our tattoo
artists hear this a lot.

We’ve come a long way but there’s still a ways to go. "Project X-Cepted”, the brain child of Ricky Fung, co-owner of Chronic Ink Tattoo shop in Toronto, hopes to change that perception. If you’ve got ink and

Tristen back in 2009, our first convention and also our first award...thx u Ottawa for giving
us our first break!

We've been thinking for awhile whether we (as a tattoo shop) should
start a blog –

whether there was any merit or value in it.

First and
foremost, I don’t want to use this space as a platform to vent the
day-to-day

frustrations that occur naturally within a service industry.

The world does not need another public complainer.

Rather, we decided this will be a mental post for ourselves…

to gather
our thoughts and reflect on what is going on in our lives, our business;

and occasionally, the world around us.

This seems like a good
opportunity for us to share our views on an industry that is

ever
changing and growing leaps and bounds everyday, as well as works from artists that we enjoy.

Most importantly, we are not your Mom and Dad's tattoo store.

We are today’s artists.

Artists who believe tattooing is simply another form of art, and your
body is our canvas.

So, for those who end up following and reading our blog.

Our crew consists of Tristen, Tony, Csaba Joe, Kevin, Winson, Steve Bks, Frances, Damon,
