What happens if you pick the scabs after Microblading

What happens if you pick the scabs after Microblading

Why to Get a Microblading Treatment

Microblading is the new best way to get the perfect brow design that will last you for the long term, but not permanently, so there isn’t as much of an investment as getting tattooed eyebrows. For those looking to get a treatment done, there is plenty of information out there in order to get you started down the path to perfect brows.

There are a number of reasons why someone would prefer getting a microblading treatment over a permanent tattoo:

You’re able to switch up the style at least every year if you want to or you aren’t liking your current design. Cancer patients can benefit from microblading during chemotherapy treatments in order to have the visibility of their eyebrows when they lose hair. Individuals with lighter hair can spice things up a bit with darker pigment, allowing the brows to stand out more. Microblading only requires an initial consultation along with your first appointment, usually lasting about an hour. Before you book your appointment, make sure to do your research in choosing an artist as well as a shop that will work towards helping you achieve your personal brow goals.

What is Semi Permanent Tattooing

Unlike a traditional tattoo, semi permanent tattooing allows for a variation in design, since the pigment fades over time and doesn’t last for the long term. Microblading itself tends to last anywhere from eight to twelve months, so you’ll have plenty of time to decide if you don’t like something. The other benefit of choosing microblading over traditional tattoos is that they tend to look much more life-lie and natural. Your brow hairs can seem darker and fuller, so that they “pop” more. As well as this, you can work with what you already have so that the treatment doesn’t take as long and isn’t as invasive, but that’s all dependent on how far you want to take it.

Understanding Skin Type and Microblading

Depending on your skin, microblading pigment adherence can last for a longer or shorter period of time. The worst skin type for long term pigment fading tends to be oily skin, which allows the pigment to essentially smear under the superficial layers of skin and create an unsightly mess. As well as this, it will fade prematurely. Not all hope is lost if you have oily skin though, as you can make sure that your face is as dry and clean as possible before your appointment in order to make sure the ink “sticks” better for you.

Other things to keep in mind regarding your skin and microblading:

Avoid long term sun exposure throughout the duration of your first treatment, not to mention during the healing process, as sunburns can cause permanent damage to the area and fade the ink. Don’t pick at your scabs, which can cause permanent scars to form in your brow area that make it impossible to get another treatment.

Choosing a Brow Artist

Social media allows us to find the perfect professional for pretty much everything, and microblading is no different. Check out online reviews for the best shop in your area, then go in and check it out for yourself. Talk to the employees about any questions you may have and what to expect during your first treatment. Make sure that you are comfortable with your artist and that they know exactly what you’re looking for before your first appointment.

What to Expect

Your brow artist will deposit pigment using a piece of equipment similar to a tattoo gun, but the ink will only go under the first few superficial layers of skin. This ensures that the pigment looks dark from the onset, but will eventually lighten into a more natural look. How much this happens depends on your skin type and overall sun exposure during the healing process. Your microblading artist may apply a numbing cream to your brow area in order to offset any discomfort you may have during the procedure, but you shouldn’t expect there to be any severe pain or discomfort. Unlike tattooing, microblading is pretty tame in terms of pain, so you’ll rest easy in knowing that everything will be safe and over quick.

What Not to Do

While it may seem like a tedious laundry list of “do nots”, microblading is a treatment and procedure that requires following a few rules before and after your appointment in order to prevent any complications, so keep them in mind when you leave your appointment and start the healing process. Don’t consume alcohol at least a day before your initial appointment. If you’re taking aspirin or blood thinners, ask your doctor if it is safe for you to stop taking them for a few hours before your treatment. Keep your brow area dry for the first week or so after your appointment to give it time to heal. There are special sterile gels you can use in order to clean the area without infecting it. Allow any scabs that form to fall off naturally so that you don’t get any unsightly scars.

Preventing Infection

How long or short of a healing process you have is entirely dependent on how well you take care of your brow area for the duration of your aftercare. Your artist will likely give you a list of things to look out for and not do, and it is your responsibility to follow them and ask questions about anything that you’re unsure about.

Signs of Infection:

Bright redness and flakiness that radiates heat Severe pain or swelling that doesn’t go away or gets worse The presence of pus in your scabs, or weeping fluid from them Itchiness accompanied by any of these other symptoms If you suspect that you might have an infection, let your artist and doctor know so that you can all work in tandem with one another to prevent its spread. Keeping in touch with the professionals is your best bet in ensuring that your healing time is painless and carefree.
