What is Microblading?

What is Semi Permanent Tattooing?

Semi permanent tattoos are some of the most popular types of tattoos nowadays. You don’t have to commit to them as much as you do a regular tattoo, and they often fade soon enough that if you decide you don’t like it, you can get rid of it or change things up. If you happen to be a bit more fickle with your style, this type of art can be a great way to keep things different and unique each time you go in. Pretty much all semi permanent tattoos are of the cosmetic variety, such as microblading. This means that they are small, relatively non-invasive procedures that don’t require much in the way of prep or commitment beforehand. You can expect microblading ink to last on average from eight to twelve months, more or less depending on your skin type and aftercare plan.

Who Gets Cosmetic Tattoos?

There are plenty of reasons why certain individuals get cosmetic tattoos, some entirely superficial, and others in order to offset the symptoms of health problems like cancer or skin disease that can cause the brow area to form improperly. The quality of life that these types of procedures afford to these people is one of the greatest reasons why shops are starting to look into training and hiring artists of the cosmetic variety. Microblading’s popularity stems from the fact that it is simple, quick, and a relatively good investment for those who don’t want to have to groom and style their brows every day. As well as this, being able to change how you look after a year or so is a great way to keep things fresh and get a feel for whether or not you want to continue treatment over the long term.

How Skin Type Affects Pigment

It will depend on your skin as to whether or not your pigment fades prematurely. You can control this by taking care of your brow area after your treatment as well as by knowing how your skin type works with a microblading procedure. Oily skin is one of the more well-known ways that makes pigment fade prematurely. Unfortunately, the natural oils in your skin work well to fade and slough off the pigment, making it look lighter and even blurry. There isn’t anything we can do about the skin type we have, but we can make a few changes to our grooming routine in order to make sure that what we have stays.

Finding a Brow Artist

When you first start looking for a professional shop to get your microblading treatment done, you’ll want to spend some time on and off the internet looking for the best of the best. Check out the shop’s social media sites, as well as their business page if they have one. Some things to look for when browsing online include: Relevant reviews that seem like they’re written by real people, not robots. Keep in mind that negative reviews are just as good as positive one, as you can’t expect everyone to have a good time for one reason or another, but the importance of that reason is something to think about. Marketing, such as advertisements and sales, or the ability to sign up for a newsletter. This shows initiative on part of the business to continue to be successful. Up to date news about trends in the industry or service prices relative to a per-hour basis. You can use your better judgement in determining what looks good and makes you comfortable about a business no matter what you find out online.

About Your Microblading Treatment

Microblading isn’t a scary procedure that should worry you, as pretty much everything bad that can happen is rare and due to a lack of general cleanliness on part of the artist or your aftercare regimen. If you are worried about pain, see if your artist can prescribe a numbing cream to help alleviate the pain and prevent any discomfort you might feel. Once you get to your appointment, your artist should confirm what they’re about to do and get started with using the needle gun to replicate hair strokes on your brow area. You might feel a slight scratching sensation, but nothing too intense. The whole process should take no more than an hour depending on just how much your artist needs to replicate. If you want things to look more natural, it will obviously take more time, as well as if you have shaved your brow area or have less and lighter hair.

Taking Care of Your Brow Area

Your brow hairs don’t require much in the way of upkeep, but after a microblading treatment you’re going to want to step it up a notch in order to make sure there are no long term complications. Your microblading artist will tell you a few ways to make sure that you stay clean and safe from infection. Try to stay out of the sun for long periods of time, as this can prematurely fade the pigment and cause things to look different much earlier than you anticipated. Keep your brow area dry for at least the first week or so after your treatment, in order to let scabs form and the naturl healing process to take hold. Don’t pick at any scabs that form, as this can cause permanent scarring that prevents further procedures from being done. Refrain from using harder scrubs and soaps that can irritate or inflame your brow area and cause your upper skin layers to slough off the pigment. Aftercare is simple, easy, and painless as long as you follow these steps over the first few weeks of healing. Once you start noticing things settling down, you can check out the long term way your brows will look, and work on scheduling a follow up appointment to fix things up or discuss a potentially new design. The sky is the limit when it comes to your personal style, so get going and find out if microblading is in the cards.
