Fading a Tattoo for
a Cover Up

Fading an existing tattoo using a tattoo removal laser is one of the most effective methods of hiding an old tattoo. A fading can be completed in fewer sessions, which means less time and cost for you.

Since we’re a full custom tattoo shop, one of our artists will also work with the removal technician to ensure that the removal goes as smoothly as possible and the artist gets the right canvas for your next piece.

Tattoo Fading Process

1. Come In For A Consultation

Unlike all other tattoo removals clinics, we’re also a full time tattoo shop. That means that you can work with a tattoo artist and a removal specialist when planning your next piece.

2. Decide On Your New Art

Your tattoo artist and removal specialist will work together to help you craft a new idea for your skin. A tattoo artist knows what they’ll need to make beautiful art best. A removal specialist knows what colours can be removed or faded the best. That’s why we put them together working for you.

3. Have Your Removal Sessions

Once you’ve decided on what you’ll be fading and what your new tattoo will look like, you can begin the fading. We will with with the artist to ensure that the right parts are faded. We’re confident this kind of collaborative experience will give you the best result.

4. Get Your New Tattoo

Once your tattoo has been sufficiently faded and healed, you’ll be able to work with your tattoo artist to create a new work of art. For more about our tattoo process, click the link below.

Complete Tattoo Removal

Sometimes you just want a fresh start or some time to think before you get a new tattoo. Laser tattoo removal can also be used to remove a tattoo entirely.

Full tattoo removal is a much longer process than fading. Depending on the tattoo, a full removal can take more than 12 sessions and requires a 1-2 year time commitment. For this reason, we recommend trying a fading first. Removing the dominant colours from a tattoo can be done quickly and often delivers the same level of satisfaction of a full removal.

Tattoo Removal Expectations

The Size & Colours Of Your Tattoo
The bigger the tattoo, the longer it takes to remove. Certain colours can also take longer to remove than others.

Your Skin Tone
In general, the darker your skin tone, the harder it is for the laser to penetrate and destroy the ink particles.

Your Adherence To Aftercare
We don’t make you wait 6-8 weeks between sessions for no reason. An integral part of tattoo removal is your immune system removing the destroyed ink particles. By properly following our aftercare instructions, you can reduce the amount of sessions needed
